Laki Kane is a cocktail bar concept designed to offer a complete sense of escape from the pace and climate of London. Inspired by Polynesian culture and the idea of the “lucky person”, the brand centres on creating an environment that feels immersive, transportive and distinct from the everyday.

Defining the escape

Through our brand development process, we identified the core proposition of Laki Kane: a place to step away, discover and lose oneself in a tropical experience. This idea informed every aspect of the brand, from spatial design to menu development, ensuring a consistent and coherent expression throughout.

An immersive environment

The strategy focused on creating a space that feels considered rather than themed, balancing authenticity with a sense of energy and play. Every element, from materials and lighting to tone of voice, was designed to reinforce the feeling of a complete shift in atmosphere, allowing guests to disconnect from the city and engage with a more escapist environment.

Layering the experience

Laki Kane extends beyond the main bar through the Spiced Dry Rum Club, an upstairs space offering a more intimate and curated experience. Inspired by rum’s nautical history, the identity draws on references such as the ship-in-a-bottle marque and historic typography, creating a distinct but connected expression within the wider brand. This added depth, allowing the venue to move between high-energy and more focused, experiential moments.

Embedding the concept

The result is a fully realised brand experience, where strategy, design and storytelling work together to create a coherent and immersive environment across every touchpoint.

The Outcome

The outcome is a distinctive and immersive brand that strengthens Laki Kane’s position within London’s competitive bar scene. By building the concept around a clear idea of escape, the brand delivers a more memorable and differentiated experience, driving word of mouth, repeat visitation and strong commercial performance, while establishing the venue as a destination rather than simply a place to drink.
